dynamic positioning system simulator course
Objectives:
To provide DP System Operator, Vessel Matters, Mates with the ability to acquire practical knowledge in the following:
- The planning and execution of DP operations
- The use and interpretation of work site diagrams and vessel templates, in context of safety margins
- Demonstrating competence in a variety of scenarios, using a DPS simulator, including the handling of emergency situations, resulting from system failures, in addition to normal operations
The course will be based on a package of theoretical lessons and practical simulator exercises. During the exercises the instructor will use an advanced DPS simulator system in creating a range of realistic scenarios, situations and common problems. The goal is to teach the student practical DP operation including planning, procedures, risk assessment and problem solving in different kinds of operations and environmental conditions. After this course the student should be ready for the last phase of the NI training program, the practical experience period.

Completed DPS Induction course or at least (5) five years experience operating DP systems
